Our Story & Seafood Roots

Dock Local was built on a simple idea: bring fresh coastal flavor, quality seafood, and laid-back hospitality to the neighborhoods we love most.

In 2016, our Owner and Chef Brett Curtis purchased a retired FedEx truck and transformed it into The Dock—a humble seafood food truck.

The brand has since expanded to five locations across DFW and Nashville in major dining and entertainment hubs. Our beloved bright orange food truck is now called the Reel Rider and pops up at hot spots and private events across Texas.

MEET OUR FOUNDER & CHEF: Brett Curtis

Chef Brett is a 30-year veteran of the food service industry. After living in several coastal areas, he was inspired to bring that unique taste to the street with a focus on fun, freshness, and craveable menu offerings reminiscent of the coast.

After his first job at Roy Rogers, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. He has held leadership roles at Ruby Tuesday and several independent restaurants, mastered the art of creative cooking at Scottsdale Culinary Institute, and spent 8 years as a Corporate Chef for Nestle.

His passion for southern hospitality and unforgettable food will win your hearts. Brett lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife, Denise, and 3 beautiful daughters: Lauren, Stephanie and Jewel.
